My name is Victoria. My husband, Joel and I live on his family’s 22,000 acre sheep, cattle, goat & cropping property in Walgett– 8 hours from Sydney in far Western NSW.
I am a city girl originally from Perth. At the start of my nursing career I moved to the Kimberley Region of Western Australia living initially in Derby and Broome before settling in Kununurra where I remained for 5 years. During this time I met Joel, who was working as a helicopter mustering pilot on a remote cattle station in Northern Territory.
In 2016 we moved to Walgett where I am employed as a nurse at the local hospital. Joel works on his family’s property he is now the 4thgeneration to do so. But in recent years he has had to work predominantly off-farm due to the ongoing drought. So he has been back up in the air helicopter mustering through out Northern Australia.
Banjo & Co Home evolved from my love of home linen – tablecloths, napkins, sheets, pillowcases… just ask my husband! Visitors to our home always comment how they love the cloth napkins and tablecloths that I always use on our table – a business was born!
The catalyst to launch my small business came after Joel spent close to 6 months working away in the Northern Territory after our wedding in March 2019.
2020 will be the 4thconsecutive year of drought for the community of Walgett with no crops, dwindling livestock numbers and many families having to make enormous sacrifices to remain on their land.
I love the products that I am designing, creating and hope you do as well!
